Niche Selection and Your Interests
Many bloggers lament that fact that there are only so many niches that pay well.
Certainly if you look at the top paying keywords for contextual advertising like Google Adsense, then it seems like you need to blog about a fairly limited scope of topics if you wish to attract the best paying ads onto your blogs.
So too with Affiliate marketing and blogs where there seem to be limited opportunities as to what topics you can build a site around in order to draw a reasonable amount of traffic as well as make a few sales.
Of course, you also have to weigh up the options of blogging about these niches with the reality of being able to put together a competitive site that people will actually visit.
And let’s face it, there are probably only so many sites that the internet can sustain about the highest paying niches such as Mesothelioma, Loans and certain types of law.
Sustaining your interest in those topics over a long period of time is going to be a very difficult task too and that’s what I want to focus on.
Just because you don’t have a direct interest on the exact topic of a high paying niche, doesn’t mean you cannot find another way to attack that same niche. You just need to get a little creative.
Combine your interests with a high paying niche!
If you have an interest in a low paying niche, then your challenge is simply to combine that topic with a higher paying niche.
For example, technology is generally a reasonable paying niche in terms of both contextual ads and affiliate programs. Combining this niche with almost any other niche is quite easy.
For example, if your interest happens to lay in a low paying niche like crafts, why not blog about gadgets that could help crafty people with their hobby or craft business? Your only hassle then would be finding gradgets and using your imagination to think of ways to apply the use of those gadgets to your hobby.
Sure, coming up with a way to combine every interest with a highly paying niche may not be possible in every instance, but many people seem to give up before even trying. In reality, you are generally only limited in this strategy by your imagination.
Take the high paying niches, and ask yourself how they apply to your interest.
You may be pleasantly surprised.
