Link Out to Well Ranked Sites
I have been through a bit of info about blog SEO on this site, but there is one little think that a lot of people forget to do.
Linking to other sites and blogs is great, but to get the absolute maximum benefit from it, you need to remember to link out with your keywords in the anchor text to highly ranked, relevant webpages.
This is just one of those little quirks of Google to keep us on our toes and ahead of their algorythm.
So what should you link to from your relevant keyword anchor text?
There are a few options here, but in general it is best to link to highly relevant pages from well ranking sites.
Now, the best way to find these sites is going to usually be through Google - especially if you don’t already have another site in mind to link to. Just do a quick keyword search on Google to find a relevant website or two.
However, another great fallback that many bloggers use is Wikipedia. This usually also has the advantage that most of Wikipedia’s internal pages have reasonable PR and you can usually find a page or two about most subjects.
Now, I am not a particular fan of Wikipedia, due mainly to what I regard as the poor quality of some of its information, but for the purposes of SEO, it isn’t a bad option.
Another option of course, is including Technorati tags at the end of your posts, which Google’s spiders will also view as external links to relevant webpages (that probably have reasonable rank if your tags are popular).
Linking out to relevant pages also adds value for your readers.
Anyway, don’t forget this little trick for helping you to rank well. It’s easy, adds, value and will help you in the realm of SEO.
